Reading makes me happy
Do you know about Mma. Ramotswe and the #1 Ladies Detective Agency?
I love them. They are good books. Really good. They make me happy.
I wish I could remember who told me about these books several years ago in Baltimore. I would give them a hug.
Also- The books have been turned into a series on HBO and also a movie I believe. I think I will catch some of it on YouTube, although I hope it doesn't ruin it for me. You know?

Le Artiste: Ian
These works of art made me oh so happy. For a number of reasons really.
But I'll let the artwork do the talking:
{Molly's best friend is our neighbor's dog, Chester. The resemblance is remarkable.}
And:
And since they were both created using the writer on magnet board method, I will not be auctioning them to the highest bidder {grandparent.}
But I'll let the artwork do the talking:
Molly and Chester
And:
Me and Gage and Ashley and Rachel

Cheer-you-up flower pens
Remember those fun flower pot pens from way back when? I made some last week and they made me so happy.
Here they are:

Actually here is the first picture I took before I cleared most of the clutter away:
That's more what it looks like around here.
That paper right there in the corner? That's a list of Magic Tree House books. We cross out the ones we own or have checked out of the library. I love having a first grader. It's sure fun. I would recommend it.

Retro Sesame
This is one of my Sesame favorites from the mushroom haircut days.
I sing this song a lot. 12345-678910-1112.
I've told the kids about it before. I finally thought to search for it online- and here it is!
Both kids thought is was pretty cool too. I remember sitting on the couch, watching Sesame Street and thinking "I have to remember this song!"

Hi
I changed the name of my public blog- again. I decided I just want to celebrate my strengths- not my remedialness...
Apparently that's not a word, the red line came under it while I typed.
Perfect.
Anyway- The Remedial Crafter is now My Happy Place. Sounds nice, huh? So- here's to sharing.

I had a remedial craft moment on Friday.
Let me share.
I have been making quiet books for the kids for years now. It's one of those projects that hasn't really happened. It's getting ridiculous now because the boys are getting so old. Oh well.
So-I had a slight malfunction with the sewing machine. I thought it looked alright on this side of the fabric- I was willing to live with the odd zigging and zagging.

And then I turned it over to the other side-
And started unpicking. I ended up sewing it and unpicking it 3 times. I was not a happy girl.
I don't think I will do a craft tutorial yet because my craft projects go something like this-
Start project.
Mess it up.
Throw it across the room.
Fix what I messed up.
Finish project.
And really- I usually repeat the throwing and the fixing a few times. It's really inspiring.
So anyway- here is a link to a real Martha. Check out her quiet book pages here, here, here, here, here and here. Are you amazed as I am that she hand sewed all of those? Yowza. It's a really fun blog to look at.
Here's to more remedial crafts this week!
